Supreme Court Lawyer Sarthak Nayak Appointed As Standing Counsel At Comptroller & Auditor General of India

Sarthak holds an LLM degree from Durham University and has worked with the Office of Mohan Parasaran, Former Solicitor General of India in the initial years of his career.

Supreme Court lawyer Sarthak Nayak has been appointed as Standing Counsel at the Comptroller & Auditor General of India. He is empanelled for the period from 15.02.2023 to 28.02.2024.

The engagement of the counsel has been made on usual terms and conditions including payment of professional fees as prescribed by the Ministry of Law & Justice from time to time.

In his career, Nayak has tasted success in briefing and appearing with almost every senior counsel of the Supreme Court. 

Works on high-profile cases

He was instrumental in working on the Rath Yatra matter with Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalami in the Supreme Court. The verdict enabled the Naveen Patnaik-led Odhisa government to hold the centuries-old Rath Yatra in Puri without any health hazard during a time when the nation was reeling living with the crippling fear of the Covid 19 pandemic and banning mass processions was a certain measure to prevent the spread of Covid19.

Bats for young lawyers and mental health

The dynamic lawyer has been proactively engaged in the cause of mental health and supporting young lawyers trying to navigate the challenges of the legal profession. 

He was particularly vocal in the media about removing the stigma surrounding mental health after the death of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020.
