Plea For Contempt Against Sebi Filed Before Supreme Court
The petitioner in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), emphasised that SEBI was required to submit its report by August 14, according to the court's May 17 order, yet the final report is still pending
An application was recently moved before the Supreme Court of India, urging contempt proceedings against the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for failing to conclude its investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg issue within the court-specified timeframe.
The petitioner in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), emphasised that SEBI was required to submit its report by August 14, according to the court's May 17 order, yet the final report is still pending.
Petitioner sought a directive to compel SEBI to explain its non-compliance and calls for contempt proceedings for disregarding the May 17 order. Additionally, he urges scrutiny of the OCCRP report by the Expert Committee, with a directive to implement the committee's suggestions for regulatory enhancement.
Despite the scheduled hearing on August 29, 2023, the Adani-Hindenburg matter remains unlisted in the Supreme Court as of November 2023.
