Lawyer Seeks Withdrawal Of Plea During Pronouncement Of Judgement, SC Bench Calls It Mocekry Of Court

The Supreme Court bench comprising Justices MR Shah and Krishna Murari were in the process of pronouncing judgement in a case called Hemanthibhai Balvanthbhai Patel v. State of Gujarat and Anr when the advocate sought withdrawal of the appeal. This anguished the apex court bench and they expressed disappointment over the move.

During the hearing the bench said that you made us believe that you will pay and do all other things and now you are asking for withdrawal. The bench remarked to the lawyer that he cannot do this during the pronouncement of the judgement.

The bench stated that is unimaginable and it makes a mockery of the proceedings before the court. The court dismayed at the instance and said that acts like this show that the standards if the Supreme Court are going down.
