Dr Sasmit Patra is an Indian politician and a member of Odhisa's Biju Janata Dal since 28 June 2019. Along with being a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Dr Patra dawns many hats with elan. This youngest MP from Odhisa is also National Spokesperson and Media Coordinator for Biju the Janata Dal and is part of many committees of the party. A lawyer by training, Dr Patra is among the youngest shining leaders in Odhisa's politics.
Growing up, the charm of education ran in Dr Patra's family. The virtues of dignity and respect were engrained in the ethos of the Patra household.
But like any middle-class family, a career in politics was not a favoured choice. For Dr Patra, however, reading newspapers since childhood drew him to a career in politics. During his time in college, he found himself passionately engaging in policy advocacy and public discourse. According to him, he gravitated to student politics and it was his tryst with student politics that took his career in the political domain.
