Delhi High Court Stays Shahdara Bar Association's Resolution Prescribing Blue Coats For Law Interns

The petition was filed through advocates Ujwal Ghai, Shivek Rai Kapoor, Sanchit Saini and Arpit Sharma.

Responding to a plea filed by a second-year law student against a resolution mandating a dress code for interns, the Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed the November 24 resolution passed by Shahdara Bar Association.

The move by the Bar Association was made with the intention to distinguish them from other lawyers. In view of the same, the resolution asked the interns to wear a white shirt with a blue coat as opposed to black courts in Delhi's Karkardooma Courts.

Calling for a meeting of all Bar Associations, the Delhi High Court said, "considering the large number of interns, a uniform policy ought to be arrived at with the consent of all stakeholders. A consistent uniform should be prescribed because if different associations prescribe different uniforms then the interns will be inconvenienced.'

The petition was filed through advocates Ujwal Ghai, Shivek Rai Kapoor, Sanchit Saini and Arpit Sharma.
