Delhi HC Asks Accused To Delete Social Media Posts About Victim Of Forced Religious Conversion

The sister of the accused mentioned that both of them were in a relationship and that the victim had threatened to accuse the person of forced religious conversation after he wanted to come out of the relationship

The Delhi High Court directed Azmat Ali Khan who forcibly pushed a Sikh woman to convert to Islam to delete the social media posts pertaining to her. He has been given an ultimatum to do the same within 48 hours.

The victim had informed Justice Pratibha M Singh in a private conversation about non consensual posting of her videos and that she was traumatized. The Court directed the Counsel for the accused to delete the social media posts as soon as the order was given out. Justice Pratibha M Singh stated, " “She has made several accusations against your client. You must cooperate with the investigation. The issue is that your client appears to have posted videos on Instagram and she has photos proving that her phone is with your client…We have shielded you from the videos that have been posted against you. Twice over protection has to be given to the woman over any videos or posts that you have put up against her, not a single one should be there. You delete it within 48 hours. Tell your client to take it seriously."

The sister of the accused mentioned that both of them were in a relationship and that the victim had threatened to accuse the person of forced religious conversation after he wanted to come out of the relationship. In a plea, Justice Singh had also asked for the removal of videos against Khan from all the social media portals like Sudarshan News, YouTube, Google, Twitter and so on. They first met in 2016 and slowly their friendship turned into a relationship. The woman had accused him of secretly recording their private moments. The FIR was registered against the accused under provisions of IPC, with charges of rape, blackmailing, besides the forced conversion.
