Advocate Claims Compensation Of Rs. 1 Crore For Family Of Murdered Doctor in Kerala

The concerned advocate who filed the plea stated that the security at the hospital was ineffective and could have been avoided if there was proper facilities provided by the Government as physical attacks on the doctors are on the the rise and the community of doctors also suffer from fear due to incidents as such

The State Government of Kerala has been sought response from by the Kerala High Court. Besides the State, the DG of Police has also been directed to file the response in the case filed by a lawyer seeking compensation of Rs. 1 crore for the family of the doctor who was murdered by a patient brought by the police for medical examination.

In the case of Adv Manoj Rajagopal v. State of Kerala & Ors., the bench of SV Bhatti, Acting Chief Justice and Justice Basant Balaji order that the plea is to be tagged with a pending matter in the same case. Dr Vandana Das, a 23 year doctor and house surgeon was killed by an injured patient named Sandeep who was brought to the hospital for medical examination.

The petitioner also stated that there is a possible foul play because of the material discrepancies in the FIR and also because the accused is a member of CPI(M). He also requested the Court to monitor the investigations in this case and also requested  eCourt for guidelines in order to provide adequate security to the medical staffs in the form of deployment of armed forces in all hospitals in the State.
