In a latest development to the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death investigation, the actor's father, KK Singh, on July 28, 2020, has filed an FIR against actress Rhea Chakraborty in Rajiv Nagar Police station in Patna. Rhea Chakarborty was Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend. The FIR has been lodged against the Rhea Chakraborty, under Sections 341 (i.e. wrongful restraint), 342 (i.e. wrongful confinement), 380 (i.e. theft), 406 (i.e. criminal breach of trust), 420 (i.e. cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 306 (i.e. abetment to suicide) and 506 (i.e. criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (“IPC”). The late actor's father also claimed that Rhea exploited Sushant financially and even compelled him to keep a distance from his own family.

FIR lodged at Patna police station

· The FIR has been lodged at Patna, as Sushant Singh Rajput's father has expressed his inability to go to Mumbai to fight the case because of health ailments. Therefore, he filed the case at Rajiv Nagar Police Station, in Patna.

· In the five-page long FIR, Sushant’s father accused Rhea Chakarborty, and five other persons, for instigating the late actor to commit suicide. Bihar Police officers have reached Patna to question Rhea in connection with SSR's death case.

· The FIR has been lodged against the Rhea Chakraborty, under Sections 340, 342, 380, 406, 420, 306 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (“IPC”).

Rhea Chakarborty’s comments

· Rhea Chakraborty had earlier shared a post on social media addressed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting him to order initiation of a CBI inquiry in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. In her tweet, Rhea

Chakarborty had addressed Sushant Singh Rajput as her boyfriend, for the very first time.

She had tweeted:

"Respected @amitshahofficial sir ,I’m sushant Singh Rajputs girlfriend Rhea chakraborty, it is now over a month since his sudden demise . I have complete faith in the government , however in the interest of justice , I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter . I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step. Yours sincerely, Rhea Chakraborty"

· Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the state government will initiate a CBI probe in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case if the need arises.

· Rhea Chakraborty was interrogated by the Mumbai Police, in their probe, almost 20 days back, for nearly 11 hours.

How far have Mumbai police reached in their investigation?

Mumbai Police officers, who are currently probing Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, have recorded the statement of at least 38 people, including Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shekhar Kapur, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Chhabra. Rhea Chakraborty was also interrogated by the Mumbai police for nearly 11 hours in connection with the late actor's death case last month.

A four member team of the Patna police has left for Mumbai in order to investigate the matter, and will seek Mumbai police’s cooperation as they are well ahead in their investigation.
