Karnataka HC Disallows Prayer Against Azaan In Mosques

Division bench headed by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe asked the authorities to go ahead with the implementation of Noise Pollution Rules related to loudspeakers.

The Karnataka High Court, on Tuesday observed that morning prayers by mosques on loudspeakers did not infringe fundamental right to religion of people belonging to other faiths.

Court said that it could not order the mosques to stop from saying the morning prayers.

Division bench headed by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe asked the authorities to go ahead with the implementation of Noise Pollution Rules related to loudspeakers. The Court also directed to file a compliance report.

The Court heard a public interest litigation and passed the order.

The Karnataka High Court also observed that Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution of India were the embodiment of tolerance which was inherent in the Indian civilisation.
