Dhanbad Judge Death: Jharkhand HC Asks SIT For Report By August 3

The High Court has made it very clear that it wants a speedy investigation in the matter.

The Jharkhand High Court has ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to submit its report in the case of death of Jharkhand Judge Uttam Anand by August 3. The High Court has made it very clear that it wants a speedy investigation in the matter. 

After taking sou moto cognizance of the case, the court has stated that it will monitor the case and consider whether the case should be handed over to CBI or not after assessing the progress in the investigation on August 3.

Currently a team spearheaded by Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Latkar is probing the suspicious death of Judge Anand. Initially, what appeared as an accident case, now appears to be much more. A murder angle cant be ruled out at this stage.

CCTV footage points to foul play

As per reports, the retrieved CCTV footage shows the Judge being hit by a auto rikshaw while he was out on a morning walk in Dhanbad. A person was seen zooming the visuals as if to ascertain if the judge had died or not. This gives enough room to suspect a foul play. Justice Uttam Anand was hearing cases involving bail applications of gangsters. His death is seen as an attack on the independent judicial system.
