The change in India's economic landscape has led to a change in India's legal paradigm as well. As businesses and the economic ecosystem have evolved, the complexity and variety of legal disputes have evolved too. 

Two business parties languishing in courts of law for a commercial dispute meant the loss of time, money and resources. This led to newer, faster and more efficient forms of dispute resolution mechanisms evolving over the last three decades. More importantly, business disputes are not confined to domestic boundaries now and have cross-border ramifications. 

Arbitration, meditation and commercial courts are going to be a mainstay in India's dispute resolution alternatives for business disputes. While adopting global practices is the way forward, it is important to Indianise ADR mechanisms. 

In a keynote address on the occasion of BW Legal World Global Legal Leaders Awards 2021, Justice A.K. Sikri, Former Judge Supreme Court of India, spoke on the changing complexities in business disputes and the effective dispute resolution methods to deal with them.
