AK & Partners Assists An Upcoming Payment Aggregator To Defreeze Its Banks Accounts

OnionPay, an upcoming payment aggregator fintech recently moved before the Bombay High Court seeking de-freezing of its bank accounts which included escrow account with public funds. The accounts were frozen by the Maharashtra Police on the pretext of alleged investigation into a cheating case under Section 102 of the CrPC, 1973. (Zhudao Infotech Private Limited v. State of Maharashtra, W.P. No. 775/ 2022).

The division bench of Hon’ble High Court of Bombay comprising of Hon’ble Justice Shri. Prasanna B Varale and Hon’ble Justice Shri Shriram Madhusudan Modak allowed the petition and directed defreezing of the bank accounts of OnionPay with immediate effect.
