[JOB POST] Litigation Counsel for Apeejay Education Society, Apeejay Stya Group

Experience with a National or International Law firm / or working as an independent Litigation Lawyer is a must. Immediate joiners preferred.

Apeejay Education Society, Apeejay Stya Group is looking to hire a Litigation Counsel.

About the Role:

The position will be responsible to handle all legal, contractual and regulatory matters for the Organization and will also be closely aligned and be required to interface regularly with the relevant business heads & all other support functions. The position will be based in Head Office, New Delhi and will report to the Head General Counsel, India.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Anticipate and manage the (legal) risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and operations.
  • Prepare and review contracts, leases, and other legal documents; research legal issues and make revisions as necessary in consultation with reporting head / Management
  • Secure compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Pro-actively create and maintain awareness of business employees for (compliance with) relevant laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate the impact of evolving legal and statutory regulations pertaining to the relevant business function, highlight the same in time, and contribute to the business planning process.
  • Maintain good standards of corporate governance, including ensuring compliance with applicable laws, consents, regulations, Companies policies and rules.
  • Tracking various judicial pronouncements connected with our business & keeping management updated on various changes impacting business.
  • Early Case Analysis – Merits & Demerits and Win-Loss Analysis.
  • Review of pleadings to be filed in various forums/courts across India.
  • Attending court cases for Apeejay Stya Group, on need basis.
  • Digitization of Litigation Management system.
  • Work with Consumer Response Team to manage, review & standardize responses.
  • Reply to all routine legal notices – Essentially, to the extent possible, manage to send legal notices and their replies in-house.
  • Maintain litigation tracker for the entire group.
  • Creating a repository of all litigation matters for the group.


Job Knowledge (Prerequisite):

  • Should have good exposure to procedural laws and NGT/ High Court/ Supreme Court Rules.
  • Should have handled Civil/ Criminal litigation matters – Real estate, environment, recovery, etc. matters.
  • Ability to draft pleadings
  • Knowledge and understanding of institutional policies and procedures and the regulatory environment within which they operate.
  • Knowledge of contract law.
  • Knowledge of financial/ business analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of the judicial system and procedures
  • Knowledge of legal documentation procedures and requirements.


Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Advanced knowledge of IT skills
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under deadlines


Qualification & Experience:

  • Masters of Law or LLM from a reputed Law School / College.
  • 5+ years of legal experience with a National or International Law firm / or working as an independent Litigation Lawyer.


Remuneration: 

Salary is not a constraint for the right candidate. Immediate joiners are preferred.
